Diederik Wolsak: ‘Who Would You Be Without Your Story?’ Event Video (2hrs 0min)

Description
Workshop with Diederik Wolsak
You may have seen therapists or been to workshops, or are even in an ongoing programme where you are encouraged to tell ‘your story’. Have you ever stopped and asked yourself: “What is the purpose of retelling my story? What actually happens when I do? Yes, I know, I feel better – briefly – afterwards, after all, I was heard, I was seen and my feelings were validated. But what was actually healed?”
In this talk, we will explore the benefits and drawbacks of hanging on to our story and we will explore ways of, finally, breaking free from our story. We will learn to recognize the ‘I’ that wants to be heard and seen and we will consider whether that ‘I’ could be transformed and how we would benefit immeasurably from freeing ourselves from our story.
Diederik Wolsak was born in 1942 in Indonesia. The first three and a half years of his life were spent in Japanese POW camps and it was here that he formed most of his core beliefs, beliefs which he thought were his actual ‘character’. After 50 years of self-loathing, alcohol and drug abuse he decided there had to be a better way to end this miserable journey. It was time to ‘change his mind’ at the deepest levels. Through readings many spiritual teachings, including A Course in Miracles, he developed a radical forgiveness process which allows him to transform the self he hated and return to the Self whose only function is to extend love. Choose Again, his charity, operates a healing center in Costa Rica and he gives talks and teaches workshops around the world. He is author of Choose Again, Six Steps to Freedom, in which he speaks of his journey and provides an in-depth teaching of his radical forgiveness process which has helped many over the years. www.diederik.org/counselling.html
